Although there is a huge following of Polar’s heart rate monitors, not just about everybody finds the many features of the F-Series models fascinating. For those who only wish to have basic heart rate readings and timing features, the Polar RS100 fits the bucket perfectly!

Designed to complement people who are usually on the go, the RS100 do not share the more techie features that its F-Series cousins possess. Nonetheless, the RS100 is capable of showing heart rate in bpm as well as the time with an alarm and snooze.

Now one of the main concerns with this model is the trademark hydrophobic characteristic that most Polar models have. Although the RS100 has far less watch features, it can still be used extensively even in forbidding wet conditions. It is also water resistant and sweating would also not be much of a problem. With a built-in backlighting system, dark surroundings pose no disadvantages to the RS100. For timed laps though, it might be necessary to write down all your desired information before pressing on the start button as it tends to erase the date from the previous exercise. The Rs100 also monitors the amount of calories you have already lost after a certain amount of time.

Take note, however, that maybe isolated cases of a delay in the synchronization between the actual watch and the transmitter. The transmitter (the strap that goes around your chest) will eventually show signs of stretching and may have to be replaced over a certain period of time.

Overall though, the Polar RS100 is a decent piece of equipment which can be used in less demanding activities.
