However, you need to keep all things in moderation whenever you run.

Here are some healthy tips on how running can effectively and safely get you into shape:

  • Plan your running routine. Any endeavor can lead to success when you have a plan to direct your actions, allowing you to focus on one single goal. Make sure you list down all the goals you have and set out corresponding steps and actions to be able to achieve that goal.
  • When doing running exercises, don’t deprive your body of its needed nutrition. Always eat 3 times a day and have healthy nutritious snacks in between. You need to eat so you can build more muscles and get more stamina to burn more calories. So never skip your meals and plan a healthy diet. Check out your daily diet and list down all food intake so you can see how much calories and fats you are introducing into your body. Aim for a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, proteins, lean meat, carbohydrates and vitamin supplements.
  • Schedule a weekly running session with friends. Bring your iPod and reliable running shoes for a 10 – 20 kilometer run around the city side every week. Running is not only a cost effective way to travel and lose weight; it is a delight for the soul and psyche when done along countryside and natural settings.
  • Always persist and never give up. When you are heavy with accumulated fat, it will surely take weeks and even months to lose those extra pounds so be extra patient as well. Plan well and accordingly. If you are 30 pounds overweight then lose it little by little. Plan to shed off a pound per week or higher if you are that determined. The most important part is planning and taking action right away.
  • Try strength-training exercises to supplement your running. Incorporate weights while running to increase your lean muscle mass. This will help your running stamina and endurance so you can burn more fats while getting a well-toned body.

    20 to 30 mile run?! That’s a little over-zealous don’t you think? Somebody needing to lose weight is never going to make that sort of distance! ive been running for 12 months, have lost 30kg’s, but still am only just pushing between 15-20km, once or twice a week!
